Dave Grohl 'Excited By Mixed Response To New Single'

Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters enjoys it when the band's music gets a mixed response from fans and the media, because it makes things more "exciting".

The rockers have just released new single 'Wheels' to coincide with their greatest hits compilation, and Grohl insists he wasn't bothered by any bad remarks towards their change of sound.

"We kind of took it in this direction that we haven't gone before, which, as a band, is exciting," Dave told MTV. "You do a song like 'Wheels' and people go, 'Really? That's the Foo Fighters?' People get all scared. 'Oh no, is that the direction they're going?'"

"It's one of those songs that our biggest fans hate. I like that we have songs that lots of different people either enjoy or dislike."

Foo Fighters release their Greatest Hits this week.
