Bloc Party And Muse Sign Up For Climate Change Gigs

More than 100 artists and bands including names like Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse and Bloc Party have signed up to play a series of massive concerts, to highlight the threat of global warming.

Eight events will take place in various cities across the World on July 7th, including London, Johannesburg, Sydney and Shanghai, while locations in the US, Brazil, Japan and Antarctica still to be decided.

Billed as Live Earth, the events will be broadcast on TV, radio and the internet and will go towards creating a foundation to help combat climate change, as led by the Alliance for Climate Protection.

The events are being led by Al Gore, who made the announcement at a Los Angeles press conference on Thursday February 15th, where he is quoted as saying; "We have to get the message of urgency and hope out."

"The climate crisis will only be stopped by an unprecedented and sustained global movement." Gore added.

Other names who have already put their names down for the events include; Paolo Nutini, Keane, Bon Jovi, Foo Fighters, Snow Patrol, Sheryl Crow, Snoop Dogg and Kelly Clarkson.
