Ashlee Simpson For Melrose Place Remake?

Ashlee Simpson will be in a remake of Melrose Place, Entertainment Weekly has reported.
The singer - whose previous acting work included a two year part in 7th Heaven from 2002 - 2004 - is said to have been cast as Violet, a character dscribed a a "shrewd sex kitten within".
The show will be made by TV network The CW, who also brought back Beverly Hills, 90210 as 90210 last year.
