Akon Sentence To 65 Hours Community Service

Akon must carry-out community service after he pleaded guilty to throwing a fan off stage in the Summer of 2007.

As the singer performed at a show in Fishkill, New York last June, he pushed the teenager off - over claims he had heckled him during the concert.

As a result of his sentencing, Akon paid a $250 fine and a New York State surcharge of $100. He must now complete 65 hours of community service - supporting anti-gang and anti-violence programs - before June 2009.

Reports say Akon apologized to the teenager as he departed the court, but the boy's father shouted at him "You threw my son off the stage."
