50 Cent has claimed that being dropped by Columbia Records nine years ago "hurt more than being shot".
The rapper was signed to the label in 1999, but following his brush with death in 2000 (in which he was shot nine times in his neighborhood in Queens) - 50 Cent was subsequently dropped, as the label felt he was too much of a liability.
Now he has revealed that while he felt nothing from the bullets themselves, the loss of being dropped caused more pain than he could take.
"Being dropped by my record record label hurt more than being shot," he admitted. "I was shot in May 2000 when I was sitting in a car. You don't actually feel each bullet hit you. The adrenaline is pumping and you're trying to get out of the way.
"I had just signed to Columbia Records and they dropped me because of the shooting. I could deal with every bullet wound but I couldn't take that."
50 Cent has also revealed he begged Kelly Rowland to be his co-star in his latest music video.
