Red Hot Chili Peppers will take a hiatus from making music, the band have revealed.
Following the extensive touring of last album Stadium Arcadium, the group claimed it had left them emotionally and mentally drained.
Now bassist Flea tells the Los Angeles Times: "We just needed two years. We had our noses to the grindstones so hard for so long. We needed to get away from it and get a fresh perspective on things."
Flea also revealed that he has enrolled at the University of Southern California, to study music.
"I'm glad my music education has developed the way that it has, but it's so much fun to learn this stuff because I never knew anything," the bassist says.
