Janet Jackson Splits With Def Jam Records

Janet Jackson has parted ways with Def Jam Records, after the singer expressed concerns over their lack of promotion for her last album 'Discipline'.

Speaking on behalf of Jackson, her publicist tells People: "At her request, the record label has agreed to dissolve their working relationship. Now more than 20 years after the release of her iconic album, 'Control', Janet will have autonomy over her career, without the restrictions of a label system."

As mentioned earlier, Janet complained Def Jam didn't promote her latest LP properly, as she told SOHH: "I'm trying to figure out a way to say this, but just to say it and to be quite honest, they just stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album, so I don't think you're going to hear another single off this album."

Meanwhile, Rodney 'Darkchild' Jenkins, who produced 'Discipline' agreed the label didn't put their full effort into getting the record heard. He tells Rap-Up.com: "She just didn't get her just-do as an artist of that magnitude."
