Hot Chip Cover Joy Division & Collaborate With Peter Gabriel

Hot Chip have recorded two cover versions, including their own reworking of Joy Division classic 'Transmission'.

The band decided to record their own version after members of New Order requested they give it a go. The finished song will feature on the next War Child album and frontman Alexis Taylor describes how the tribute is sounding:

"It is totally different from Joy Division's original version," Taylor tells BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat. "It is much more Caribbean-sounding because it features steel pans as the lead instrument."

As Hot Chip hinted earlier this month, when they said they were working with "one of our greatest musical heroes", the group have indeed confirmed they have recorded a song with Peter Gabriel.

The track is a cover of 'Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa', originally by Vampire Weekend.
