Britney Spears - Judge Upholds Driving Charges

Britney Spears will still be charged for driving without a valid license, despite attempts from her attorney to have the charges dropped.

Spears was originaly charged with hit and run and driving without a license, after she hit a parked car and left the scene without notifying the driver. However the hit and run charges were later dropped.

Californian law calls for application for a state license within 10 days of becoming a resident, but Britney had not applied despite being a resident for 17 months when the incident occured, meaning her license was invalid.

Spears' attorneys tried to get the charges against the popstar dropped, arguing that she was being targeted due to her celebrity status, however the LA Superior Judge James A.

Steele disagreed and upheld the charges at Tuesdays hearing. Spears will likely now go to trial in October, reports the Associated Press.
