Duffy Was Unsure Whether Rockferry Would Ever Be Released

Duffy says she was unsure if her debut album 'Rockferry' would ever be released and that it was recorded on virtually no budget.

"When I was writing it I never knew what my fate was," Duffy tells the Daily Star. "Neither did Bernard Butler or my manager Jeanette."

"At times we wondered if it would ever be released. I'm just this girl from Wales - it could have done nothing and I could have faded into obscurity."

"Nobody ever gave Bernard any money to work with me." Duffy continues, "It was all done on a shoestring. It was a labour of love and I was so lucky to have all these people spending a s***load of time on me, being really patient."

It seems the hard work has more than paid off, after 'Rockferry' sold more than million copies this year.

"Something happened when it was eventually released - it just connected. I've been gobsmacked by the response." Duffy says of her overwhelming success.
