YouTube Ordered To Hand Over User Details

YouTube has been ordered to hand over details of every single clip, that every single user has ever viewed on the popular video-sharing website - according to a new court ruling.

In the case, which is part of an ongoing copyright battle with Viacom - the company which is owned by Google - must also provide the date and time each user viewed a video, as well as login and computer details, says The Sun.

The battle first began last year when Viacom ordered YouTube to remove 100,000 TV and film clips, as they didn't have permission to air the copyrighted material.

They claim YouTube users have viewed their material over 1.5 billion times, so have demanded access to the viewing figures to prove their stolen content is more popular than user-submitted footage.
