Remy Ma was sentenced to eight years in prison yesterday (May 13th), after she was recently found guilty of shooting a woman.
The shooting of friend Makeda Barnes-Joseph actually took place in July 2007, which led to the US rapper being found guilty of assault, possessing weapons and attempted coercion charges.
Reports say that Judge Rena Uviller stated Remy Ma was "an extremely angry young woman whose anger is completely out of control."
In her defence, the hip-hop star said "Remy Ma is not even close to who I really am. I'm not a thug. I'm not a threat or a menace to society, and I still have so much to offer."
