Krautrock Legend Klaus Dinger Passes Away

Klaus Dinger, the Krautrock drummer who is linked to creating the "Motorik" beat, has sadly passed away on March 21st - just four days short of his 62nd birthday.

Dinger is best known for his drum skills in the hugely influential bands Neu! and Kraftwerk (he was their original drummer, but later left to be replaced by Michael Rother).

After both of these bands, Klaus went on to form La Düsseldorf in the late 70s and early 80s, before going on to establish La! Neu? in the late 1990s.

Although his unique beats are referred to as "Motorik" (German for "motor skills"), Klaus is said to have labelled it as "Apache Beat" himself.
