LL Cool J Says Jay-Z Was Not A Great Boss

LL Cool J has hit out at fellow rapper and hip-hop mogul Jay-Z, saying his former label boss failed the artists on the Def Jam roster.

Speaking to Sister 2 Sister magazine, LL says Jay-Z was only drafted in as the president and CEO of Def Jam to "show the world that they still cared about hip-hop".

"It's been a great business for him," LL adds, "but it has been not so great for a lot of the artists that were there (at Def Jam) previously."

"We have to be very careful when we talk about it," he continued, "because, for some strange reason, his fans...start thinking, like, you're hating when you're just being real."

The hip-hop star has just one more album set for release through Def Jam, before he is released from his contract. He has made it clear that he intends to leave the label.
