Mos Def To Play Chuck Berry In New Movie

Mos Def is chalking up a real CV of movie appearances that looks to be getting even bigger soon, with a planned role in the forthcoming film Cadillac Man.

Filming is already underway for the film in New Jersey and the rapper will play influential rock 'n' roll pioneer Chuck Berry. Set in the 1950s in Chicago, the movie is said to be based upon Leonard Chess and the artists on his Chess Records label - like Muddy Waters, Little Walter and Howlin' Wolf.

Joining Mos Def on the big screen will be actress Gabrielle Union (who plays Geneva Wade - girlfriend of Muddy Waters), singer Beyonce Knowles (Etta James), Jeffrey Wright (who plays Muddy Waters) and Adrien Brody (Leonard Chess).

Darnell Martin wrote and directed Cadillac Man, which should be released late on in the year. Beyonce Knowles will not only star in the feature, but she also acts as executive producer.
