T.I. Sentenced To Prison & Given Community Service

T.I. pleaded guilty to three weapons charges yesterday afternoon (March 27th), during an Atlanta Court appearance.

According to reports, the rapper pleased guilty to charges of possession of an unregistered firearm, possession of machine guns and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

He must now serve a year in prison, as well as 1500 hours of community service. The jail sentence will begin next year sometime, once the hip-hop star has completed 1000 hours of the community service, which will include talking to youth groups about the lows of guns, drugs and being in gangs.

After his one-year prison sentence is over, T.I. will then be subjected to three years of supervised release - one year of which includes home detention. If all this wasn't enough, a fine of $100,000 is also due.

"We believe this resolution is in the public's interest," said U.S. Attorney David Nahmias following the rapper's plea. T.I. continues to be under house arrest - as he has been since October 2007.
