Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor has labelled Radiohead as insincere over the low-quality version of In Rainbows released last year.
Reznor was impressed by the band's decision to let fans name their price for the download, but it seems he was less than amazed with the MP3s being available at just 160 KBS. In a new interview, he says:
"What they did was a cool thing. But if you look at what they did, though, it was very much a bait and switch to get you to pay for a MySpace-quality (music) stream. There's nothing wrong with that - I but don't see that as a big revolution (that) they're kinda getting credit for."
"What they did right - they surprised the world with a new record, and it was available digitally first. What they did wrong - by making it such a low-quality thing, not even including artwork... to me that feels insincere."
Trent Reznor himself took a similar stance with the release of the Nine Inch Nails album Ghosts I-IV, where he offered a number of options ranging from a free download all the way up to a $300 limited edition box set.
