London Astoria Will Definitely Be Demolished

The London Astoria is to definitely be closed, even after 35,000 music fans signed a petition to save the venue from demolition.
London Mayor Ken Livingstone confirmed the Astoria was to be destroyed as part of a new underground network, but he has also said a new venue will now be built instead.
"There are some instances where that just physically isn't possible. The construction of Crossrail means that the Astoria can't be saved."
Livingstone added, "We're basically putting in a vast train station but the developers that have actually drawn up the scheme for the area are replacing it with a larger live music venue."
The Astoria isn't the first venue to be shut down due to the work, as both the Spitz and Hammersmith Apollo have closed their doors.
