30,000 people have downloaded the album You Cross My Path by The Charlatans for free, after the band put the record online at the start of the week.
The album is being given away freely until a physical version will be made available on May 19th through the Cooking Vinyl label as a CD, and a limited edition 7" box set.
Font man Tim Burgess says that the band "never imagined that it could be this successful."
Manager Alan McGee also added that he feels, "totally vindicated with the philosophy" behind the free download, before saying: "If you go free and make a great record, you can exceed your dreams"
"No longer does music have to work in the traditional major label dominated way. Long live the Charlatans." McGee concluded.
