Black Francis Show Halted By Police

Police were forced to halt an impromptu gig by Black Francis in Dublin over the weekend, after far too many fans turned-up to watch him during the intimate performance.

The last-minute set was part of Black's "pre-core" gigs, in which he performs a low-key set in a location chosen by fans, before he plays a proper show later that day.

This pre-core set took place at St Stephen's Green in Dublin city, where he was playing both a mixture of his own solo material, as well as songs by his band Pixies.

Police became worried when 1000 fans arrived to watch him play and as a result, they escorted Francis away. Some fans apparently thought he was being arrested at the time.

Two more "pre-core" shows are planned for this week, as he continues the promotion of new album Svn Fngrs - taking place in Manchester on February 12th at Big Hands, then Waxy O'Conners in London on February 13th.
