Reading / Leeds Festivals To Drop Corporate Sponsorship

The Reading and Leeds Festivals are to drop any corporate sponsorship for this Summer's events, as organisers hope to go back to "their roots".
Melvin Benn from Festival Republic says of their decision to drop any backing:
"I wanted it to be - as I'm sure fans wanted it to be - slightly less corporate. I wanted to reclaim the name Reading Festival and the name Leeds Festival. I wanted them to return to their roots, so to speak."
Previously, the twin events were sponsored by Carling, which even coined the phrase Carling Weekend in recent years.
Speaking of bands set to play this year, Benn added: "Interesting this year is that - probably for the first time, in my memory - we're actually going with three American headliners. Reading and Leeds Festivals will be held from August 22nd until the 24th.
