Franz Ferdinand To Work With Girls Aloud Producer

Franz Ferdinand have revealed that they are working with producer Brian Higgins (of Xenomania) on their next album - the man responsible for hit pop singles from the likes of Girls Aloud, Mutya, Kylie Minogue and Sugababes.

Speaking to NME.com, Franz front man Alex Kapranos explains the band's reasoning for working with a pop producer: "We could easily make a 'Franz Ferdinand by numbers' record, but there's no point, no enjoyment in making a record like that. If we wanted to make a record like that we would have released it last year, that's why we've been taking our time to push ourselves."

Kapranos also added, "When you make a good record it should feel like you're making a best of record. You've got a whole pile of songs about you and the album is the best of that year. That's the way we've been approaching it."

Work on the currently-untitled record started this month and already songs confirmed to be included on the album are Turn It On, What She Came For and Ulysses.
