The Verve are the latest band to protest against their label EMI since the company was taken over by private equity owners Terra Firma.
The move follows Radiohead and Paul McCartney who have both left the label, and more recently Robbie Williams, who is threatening to "strike" and also Coldplay, who are considering alternative labels.
Richard Ashcroft and Co. are now threatening to withold their new album (tipped to be released in June), until the new owners can assure the band about their financial security.
Jazz Summers, manager to The Verve and Snow Patrol, is meeting with the new EMI boss today (January 15th), along with band members to discuss their future.
Speaking of the situation, Summers says that Guy Hands (owner of EMI) "has not got a clue of what this business is about".
