Thrill Jockey To Release 7" Box Set

Thrill Jockey will continue their 15 year anniversary celebrations by releasing a limited edition 7" box set, featuring many of the acts on their roster.

The box was inspired by the Devil's Jukebox 7" set released in 1989 by Blast first and will house 9 singles, featuring 18 songs. None of the tracks will ever appear on CD.

The bands were allowed to cover any song, so long as it was by a Thrill Jockey band and it had already been released on a record.

As a result, we get the likes of Tortoise covering Nobukazu Takemur, Arbouretum reworking Thalia Zedek, as well as The Sea and Cake tackling Califone.

The box set coincides with Thrill Jockey's two birthday parties in London this November - more details can be found here.

According to the label, other appearances on the 7" singles are as follows:

Pit Er Pat covered Lonesome Organist
David Byrne covered Ex Guru by The Fiery Furnaces
Archer Prewitt covered Mrs Turner by The National Trust
Bobby Conn, Califone and Thalia Zedek covered Freakwater songs
Freakwater covered Megre Prick by The Zincs
The Zincs covered Blue Marble Girl by Giant Sand
Directions covered Toy Boat by Jeff Parker
