The Beatles And Apple Settle Dispute

The Beatles may finally allow their back catalogue to be sold online as downloads, after settling a long-term dispute with Apple Inc.

The Beatles' company Apple Corps Ltd had been disputing with Apple Inc. over the use of the name "Apple" as a music company (Apple Inc. started the iTunes store).

The two companies how now said that Apple Inc. would now own all the trademarks related to the "Apple" name and would licence some trademarks back to Apple Corps Ltd.

Speaking about the agreement, Steve Jobs of Apple Inc. says, "We love the Beatles, and it has been painful being at odds with them over these trademarks.

Speaking on behalf of The Beatles owned Apple Corps, manager Neil Aspinall also said, "The years ahead are going to be very exciting times for us. We wish Apple Inc. every success and look forward to many years of peaceful cooperation with them."

Rumours are now circulating on the internet claiming The Beatles will soon be allowing their tracks to be sold via iTunes, although nothing has been confirmed yet.
