Billed as a "chase theme", Hot Heavy Heat by sound-manipulators Carlos Y Gaby is more like a slow-churning journey through different eras and genres of musical styles than a high-speed uptempo song like the title hints at.
These veteran experimentalists toy with ever-changing ideas, where percussive loops overlay samples of flutes and explosions, as pulsing rhythms and meandering sweet drones wrestle with weirdly-skewed vocal snippets.
The duo are like the parents of noise-freaks Black Dice and La Voz Sabie De Los Cosmos, their new album, is released this March on Alpha Pup.
