2005's Small Talk Kills Me by Calika made quite an impression on us here at AngryApe and follow-up Seedling Mother doesn't disappoint.
From the CD we have the track 2 Quarters Make Half A Smile - a track of two halves if there ever was one. Beginning with a delicate brew of acoustic guitar strums and minimal electronics, Calika soon breaks into freak glitch beats and live drums, that take an almost live jazz direction.
So many genres and styles are collected on Seedling Mother, yet the album remains a very cohesive listen. The CD has just been released by the good folks at Audiobulb - if there's only album you purchase this month, make it this one!
