We recently caught up with our new favourite unsigned act, and generally nice blokes Sam & Me. Sam & Me are also playing a handful of gigs over the next couple of months, check out their site for dates and venue details.
Hi guys and happy New Year, any resolutions?
We had some, but we've broken them all already, so better luck next year...
You're getting quite a bit of media attention as of late, how does it feel?
It's well exciting. We never had people ringing US up to ask us if we'll do a gig / interview or send them a demo before. We're just glad all the feedback so far has been positive! It's nice that people get it.
Any intentions to ever become a full-size band, or will it always remain the two of you?
Yeah definitely. Things are great now, but with a band behind the tunes it will be incredible. I guess we're just waiting for the right people to turn up...who knows. We'll see what happens.
Being unsigned you must know how hard it is to get a deal, is there any chance you'll release anything yourselves?
No plans to.
The Darkness = Funny or Annoying?
Sam: I liked 'em. Live they are brilliant. Although you kind of get that feeling that they may have already blown out. But every guitarist would love to do what they do... Stadium rock - you can't beat it!
Row: I fuckin' hate them. I tried to convince myself that underneath, the tunes were actually good. But they aren't. They wanna work with Big Brovas and Black Eyed Peas for fucks sake...
Did you have to fight amongst yourselves to decide whose name would be used in the title?
Row: No, Sam and me was how it was thought up and if it was Rowan and me there would be to many 'ans' in it.
Live shows have mainly been in Manchester & Brighton so far, do you plan on touring other parts of the country to spread the name of Sam & Me?
Absolutely. It's all about the gigs. We just want to play live. It's nice now that there's regular gigs to look forward to. We've just heard we're supporting Alfie on 15th Feb in Brighton - that'll be a good one. We can't wait to go on tour...
How do you decide who gets the best groupies?
Sam: Ask any of the boys at Akoustik Anarkhy - the girls often stay away. But things are changing.
Which current bands are you listening to?
Sam: Loose Cannon
Row: Iron & Wine, The Postal Service and The Decemberists
Thanks for your time
Cheers.
