The Ting Tings are an indie-dance / pop duo who comprise of vocalist / guitarist Katie White and drummer Jules De Martino.

Before forming the band, White and Martino were members of their own groups - Katie starred in girl band TKO (Total Knock Out) and De Martino could be found in Babakoto. They then later formed the three-piece Dear Eskiimo, who were signed (but later dropped) by Mercury Records.

Following this, The Ting Tings formed in Salford, England in 2006 and along with regular live performances in the city, they signed with a local record label for the release of their limited edition singles 'Fruit Machine' and 'That's Not My Name / Great DJ'.

The following year saw the two-piece signed by Columbia Records in 2007, who released their major debut single 'Great DJ'. It wasn't long before The Ting Tings found themselves as one of the biggest newcomers in the country, upon the 2008 release of their hit song 'That's Not My Name'.

The duo's debut album 'We Started Nothing' was also released at this time and proved equally as popular. The Ting Tings have since enjoyed success in the US and Europe, particularly with their song 'Shut Up and Let Me Go', which could be heard on a TV commercial for iPods in 2008.
