Rihanna is an R&B and pop singer, born Robyn Rihanna Fenty on February 20, 1988. She was born and raised in Saint Michael, Barbados but moved to the U.S. when she was aged 16, to concentrate on her music career.

Ri was discovered by producer Evan Rogers (who has worked with Christina Aguilera, Kelly Clarkson) and after recording a demo tape, she was soon signed by Jay-Z to the Def Jam label in 2004.

Her first album release was 2005's 'Music Of The Sun', which featured her hit single 'Pon de Replay'. The record enjoyed success in the U.S., selling 500,000 copies.

Just 8 months later in 2006, Rihanna headed back into the studio to record the follow-up album 'A Girl Like Me'. She also toured with Gwen Stefani and Pussycat Dolls during this time.

It wasn't until her third album, 2007's 'Good Girl Gone Bad', that Ri enjoyed success all over the globe. The record featured production from Timbaland, Ne-Yo, Stargate and JR Rotem.

The lead single 'Umbrella' (which included a cameo from Jay-Z) was a worldwide smash and topped the charts in 14 different countries.

In various interviews, the singer has named Mariah Carey, Beyoncé, Alicia Keys, Destiny's Child, Brandy and Gwen Stefani as her influences.

Outside of music, Rihanna has endorsed several products including Clinique's Happy fragrance and P&G's Secret deodorant Secret. She has also done plenty of charity work, including launching her own cause - the Believe Foundation - which helps terminally ill children.
