Richard Ashcroft
Richard Ashcroft began as the frontman and songwriter for a young psychedelic indie band named Verve.
Verve's first album was the classic A Storm In Heaven, which was recorded through heavy drug use and combined shoegazing and drone rock. Verve followed their debut with A Northern Sould, which introduced strings and acoustic guitars into their sound.
The Verve split after their second album, but reformed to record the much-praised Urban Hymns which went on to sell millions. The band split once more and Richard Ashcroft began his solo career.
As a solo musician, Ashcroft writes soft rock songs often backed with orchestral arrangements which has seen him become one of the biggest names in the UK.
