Ne-Yo (real name Shaffer Chimere Smith) is an American R&B singer-songwriter.
Ne-Yo's solo career began in 2005. Shortly afterwards, in early 2006, he released his debut album, In My Own Words. It reached number one on The Billboard 200, and sold 301,000 copies in the first week. Shortly afterwards, his second single, "So Sick", became the number one song on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
