Morning Runner

Morning Runner are Matthew Greener (Guitar & Vocals), Tom Derrett (Bass), Chris Wheatcroft otherwise known as Fields (Keys) and Ali Clewer (Drums). Formed in Reading two years ago, Matthew bonded with Tom and Ali with an aim to write and perform great songs and to have a good time in the process.

Whilst tentative about adding a pianist to what they thought would be a garage rock band, they decided that longtime friend Fields was simply too good a musician not to be in the band. The music that resulted became both big-hearted and brash; the four members drawing on influences from their love of Radiohead, the Strokes, Cat Power, Elbow and Grandaddy

The band were signed to Manchester indie label, Faith and Hope Records in 2003. After putting out The Great Escape 7" EP in 2004 they played numerous gigs around the country and simultaneously became one of the hottest bands on the A & R circuit. . This led to the band signing with Parlophone Records in November 2004 and paved the way for a busy schedule.
