Leona Louise Lewis is an English singer born in Stoke Newington in the London borough of Hackney, on April 3rd, 1985.

Lewis has shown an interest in music since an early age - at five-years-old she enrolled at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, followed by the Italia Conti Academy and the BRIT School. Before fame and fortune in later life, Leona wrote her first song aged just twelve, won several talent contests and even recorded an entire demo album of original songs called 'Twilight'.

Major worldwide success followed after Leona won the UK music talent contest X Factor in 2006. Her first single was 'A Moment Like This' - a cover version of 2002 American Idol winner Kelly Clarkson's debut release.

Initially made available as a digital download single immediately after Leona was crowned the winner, the song broke the world record for the largest number of downloads - after 50,000 fans purchased the song within 30 minutes.

Her debut album, 'Spirit', followed a run of succesful singles and was released in Europe in November 2007. It became the fastest-selling debut album ever in both the UK and Ireland. Similar success followed in North America, with the album topping the US Billboard 200 charts.
